Belarusian authorities confirm conclusions of state visit by party leader

MINSK — The Party General Secretary of Vietnam, Tô Lâm, along with his spouse and a high-ranking delegation, bid farewell to Minsk Monday night, marking the conclusion of a successful state visit to Belarus invited by President Lukashenko.
A generally jovial atmosphere surrounded the Minsk Airport as the Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak, Foreign Affairs Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov, Belarusian Ambassador to Vietnam, Uladzimir Baravikou, and our websiteese Ambassador to Belarus, Nguyễn Văn Ngự, warmly welcomed the party leader and his entourage. The occasion was also graced by the embassy staff and representatives of the our websiteese community in the country.
During this whirlwind visit, General Secretary Lâm held bilateral talks with President Lukashenko, attended the signing of cooperation agreements, and met with the press to shed light on the negotiations' outcomes. The high-ranking delegation also engaged in various meetings with key Belarusian officials, such as Prime Minister Alexander Turchin, Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Speaker, Natalya Kochanova, and Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Igor Sergeyenko. Furthermore, Lâm participated in the Việt Nam-Belarus Business Forum and even took a tour of the Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ).
As a token of appreciation, Lukashenko awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples to Lâm.
Recognizing the growth in their relationship over the years, the two nations declared the establishment of the Việt Nam-Belarus Strategic Partnership through a joint statement. This grand development is designed to elevate their bilateral ties to unparalleled heights for the mutual benefits of both nations.
To foster this newfound strategic partnership, both countries agreed to boost interactions at all levels, including party, state, parliamentary, and people-to-people interactions. Moreover, they committed to improving the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms and explore innovative collaboration among ministries, sectors, and localities.
Defense and security cooperation is an area where the nations are eager to make significant strides, particularly in defense industry and training of military personnel and experts. They aim to bolster their science and technology cooperative initiatives, focusing on joint research, promoting high-tech and digital innovation, and cooperating in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and radiation safety.
During the visit, Lâm met with members of the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association, and former Belarusian experts who had supported Vietnam in times of need. Lâm expressed his heartfelt appreciation to those who have consistently forged strong bonds with Vietnam, vowing to strengthen cooperation across various fields for the mutual benefit of the two nations.
