Behind-the-scenes sneak peek suggests the possible revelation of two villains in the Marvel movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, along with a hinted appearance of Venom.
In the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," fans can expect a new chapter for the web-slinging hero as he faces off against a roster of formidable villains.
According to insider reports and comments by Marvel President Kevin Feige, multiple villains, at least three, have been confirmed for the film. Among these, The Punisher (Frank Castle) played by Jon Bernthal, will make his MCU debut as a major street-level adversary.
Feige hinted that the movie will focus on street-level crime villains, a departure from the world-ending threats that have dominated previous Spider-Man films. This shift aligns with the film’s title, suggesting a fresh start for Spider-Man as a solo hero.
While not officially confirmed, there is strong speculation about the supernatural villain Mephisto potentially making an appearance. This speculation is influenced by Marvel’s recent storytelling around The Hood and magic users in related series, and could connect thematically to the "Brand New Day" storyline where Peter Parker faces personal losses and temptations.
Other villains are likely to be classic Spider-Man foes, as depicted on the director’s art wall. These include Tarantula and Boomerang, whose roles have been hinted at by an Instagram post by an assistant to the director and Feige's comments. If Tarantula is set to join the villains, it's possible some of them will only have minor roles.
Interestingly, fans have longed for a team-up between Spider-Man and Daredevil on the silver screen. While not yet confirmed, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Tom Holland's Peter Parker might reunite in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."
Feige mentioned eight or nine comic covers on Cretton's wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in the movie. One of these covers features Daredevil in a supporting role, raising hopes for a potential Daredevil appearance.
Venom, who re-emerges in "The Amazing Spider-Man #345," might also make an appearance, but this remains unconfirmed.
Filming for "Spider-Man 4" is set to begin shortly, promising an exciting journey for Spider-Man fans. As we await more details, the behind-the-scenes shots from "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" might provide clarification on the above possibilities.
