Lufthansa and its subsidiaries are taking a firm stance against climate activist protests at German airports, demanding compensation for the disruptions caused. According to reports, Eurowings, a part of the Lufthansa group, is seeking 740,000 euros from the Last Generation activist group over disruptive actions at Hamburg, Düsseldorf, and Berlin airports[1].

The protests have reportedly affected numerous flights, with 57 Lufthansa Group flights and 8,500 passengers disrupted in Hamburg alone on July 13[1]. Eurowings claims 400,000 euros in damages for this incident, and ten defendants have received letters of demand for payment related to the Hamburg protests[1].

Furthermore, Lufthansa is seeking compensation for protests at Düsseldorf Airport on the same day, with 24 affected flights[1]. Damages of 220,000 euros are at stake for this incident, and six defendants have allegedly received demands for payment of 120,000 euros for the protest at Berlin Airport[1].

In response to these protests, Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) has announced plans to tighten the Aviation Security Act, aiming to curtail such disruptive actions[1]. Wissing criticized the blockades, stating that they far exceed the limits of legitimate protest and are not minor offenses[1].
