Bears Secure Historic 800th Win, Caleb Williams Leads Late Comeback

Chicago Bears secured a thrilling 25-24 win against the Las Vegas Raiders, marking their 800th franchise victory. Despite missing key players, the Bears' defense shone on third down and in the clutch, while Caleb Williams orchestrated a late comeback.

The Bears' defense, despite being without starting cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon, held the Raiders to a dismal 2 of 8 on third down conversions. They also managed to intercept the ball twice. However, they struggled against the run, allowing a hefty 7.7 yards per rush and a 64-yard touchdown run by rookie Ashton Jeanty. The defensive line, missing Grady Jarrett and T.J. Edwards, failed to sack Geno Smith.

Offensively, the Bears had a tough day, averaging only 2.7 yards per carry and struggling to block Maxx Crosby. Left tackle Braxton Jones was replaced at halftime, and the status of starting right tackle Darnell Wright remains uncertain due to an arm injury. Theo Benedet is expected to start as the left tackle in the upcoming game. Despite these challenges, Caleb Williams stepped up, leading the team to a field goal at the end of the first half and the winning touchdown in the two-minute offense.

The Bears' victory came at a cost, with their defense needing improvement against the run and the offensive line requiring reinforcements. They have a bye week to address these issues before facing Washington on Monday, Oct. 13. Despite the challenges, the Bears' resilience and Caleb Williams' leadership were key factors in securing their historic 800th win.
