The Chicago Bears (0-2) and Dallas Cowboys (1-1) are set to face off this Sunday, with a notable reunion taking centre stage. Former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus returns to Chicago as the defensive coordinator of the Cowboys, marking his first meeting with the team he led just a season ago.

Eberflus' departure from the Bears came after a 4-8 start last year, and he has since found success in Dallas. The Cowboys' secondary, however, is not at full strength, with injuries to key players such as cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon, and Jaylon Jones, linebacker T.J. Edwards, and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett.

The Bears, too, are dealing with their fair share of injuries. Cornerbacks DaRon Bland and Trevon Diggs missed practice on Wednesday due to a foot injury and illness, respectively. The Chicago secondary has struggled mightily, allowing an NFL-high 79 points in two games, with opposing quarterbacks completing 75 percent of their passes and throwing seven touchdowns.

On the offensive side, the Cowboys' passing game, particularly quarterback Dak Prescott, could pose a significant challenge. In their last game, Prescott completed 30 passes for 450 yards, three touchdowns, and was intercepted once against the Cowboys. Wide receiver George Pickens has expressed confidence in the team's offensive capabilities.

The Bears, on the other hand, will rely on quarterback Caleb Williams, who Eberflus has inside knowledge about from their time together in Chicago. Eberflus was previously a linebackers coach in Dallas before becoming the Colts defensive coordinator and then the Bears' head coach.

The Cowboys' front seven is still adjusting following the loss of pass rusher Micah Parsons in a trade. However, the addition of Jadeveon Clowney, who has 58 career sacks, is expected to bolster their defensive line. Clowney is set to make his debut for the Cowboys this Sunday.

Bears' head coach Ben Johnson has expressed concerns about facing Eberflus' unit and has emphasized the need for improved practice habits to reflect a championship-calibre team. Johnson, a first-year coach, has been focusing on instilling a winning culture in the Bears.

Meanwhile, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed confidence in Prescott's performance, stating that the team's offense is ready to take on any challenge. Dallas offensive tackle Tyler Guyton, however, is limited in practice due to a shoulder injury.

The Bears and Cowboys last met in 2021, with the Cowboys emerging victorious. This upcoming game promises to be an exciting match-up, with both teams looking to turn their seasons around. The Cowboys will be looking to continue their winning streak, while the Bears will be aiming to secure their first win of the season. The Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions combined to sack Williams four times in the Bears' last game, and the Bears will be hoping for a stronger performance this time around. The Cowboys intercepted Giants quarterback Russell Wilson in overtime last week to set up the winning field goal, and they will be looking to repeat that success against the Bears.
