Chicago Bears Struggle in Fourth Quarter as Loss Streak Reaches Three Games

The Chicago Bears are grappling with a three-game losing streak, the latest setback coming in a 27-24 defeat to Minnesota. This loss marked the second time in two games the Bears have allowed over 20 points in the fourth quarter.

In the Minnesota game, the Vikings rallied from an 11-point deficit in the final quarter, with J.J. McCarthy leading the comeback in his first start. This was the most points the Bears have allowed since a 55-14 defeat to Green Bay in Week 10 of the 2014 season.

Over the past five quarters, Chicago has allowed a total of 73 points. The Bears' defense has struggled significantly, allowing a total of 105 points in their last three games. In fact, the team recently suffered a 52-21 loss to Detroit, with 52 points allowed just three shy of the franchise record.

New head coach Ben Johnson has criticised the team's practice habits, stating they do not reflect a championship-caliber team. Johnson, who is in his first head coaching job, emphasised that these improvements should be visible in walk-throughs and practice sessions, as they will translate to game day.

Johnson specifically mentioned that the team needs to focus on going to the football, finishing hard, and improving fundamentals, finish, and technique. He stressed the importance of proper blocking, catching the ball, blocking after the catch, ball security, and other basic skills that are crucial at all levels of football.

The Bears will host Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys this week. As they look to break their losing streak, Johnson's emphasis on detail-oriented training focused on footwork, positioning, and decision-making to manipulate the defense effectively may prove crucial.
