Staff at the local tourism center have placed the first of around 1,200 beach baskets, ready for your enjoyment along the expansive North Sea beach. With five guarded bathing areas spread across the beautifully broad coastline, you'll easily find your perfect spot to unwind in the comfort of a beach basket.
Tourism Director, Katharina Schirmbeck, shared her enthusiasm, claiming that "there's no better way to enjoy the beach in St. Peter-Ording than in a beach basket!"
From now until the end of March, you can make the most of these heavenly haven's free of charge. Starting the official bathing season in April, rentals will become available, priced at a reasonable 12 euros per day (with a discounted 10 euros rate in April and October). Take a piece of St. Peter-Ording home, by marking your calendar for April 25, 2025! On this exciting day, 30 decommissioned beach baskets will be auctioned off at the dike parking lot.
As the sands shift, so does the parking system on the beach. From this weekend (March 15), beach parking spaces in Ording and Böhl will reopen. You can park your vehicle directly by the beach from 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM. A brand-new camera-based parking system will manage entry and exit, allowing for seamless transactions with zero physical interaction.
The parking fee can be conveniently paid online, via the parking app, or at the on-site cash machine, as announced by the tourism center. It will set you back 15 euros in Ording and 13 euros in Böhl per day.
"This digital solution will significantly reduce waiting times and traffic congestion, especially on busy summer days," said Nils Stauch, head of the beach, parking, and digitalization department at the tourism center.
