Be alerted, drivers and attendees of Syracuse Nationals: avoid illegal street racing, burnouts, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Syracuse Nationals Car Show, taking place from July 18 to 20 at the New York State Fairgrounds in Geddes, will see heightened safety measures and traffic management this year. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Syracuse Police Department, Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, and the New York State Police, will collaborate to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for the estimated 8,000 vintage and classic car enthusiasts expected to attend.

To maintain public safety and traffic flow, law enforcement agencies will significantly increase patrols in and around the event site, with a particular focus on Hiawatha Boulevard and Solar Street, which are anticipated to experience high traffic volumes. These agencies will work to control traffic, prevent congestion, and address potential problem areas such as ongoing construction projects.

The vicinity near Hiawatha Boulevard and Solar Street is expected to be a major traffic pinch point due to the concentration of attendees arriving for the car show. To address these concerns, officials have urged responsible driving, stressing the importance of sobriety and adherence to traffic laws. With tens of thousands of people expected to attend the event, officials have released public safety information ahead of the show to prepare attendees and reduce hazards.

The increased patrols and visible law enforcement presence aim to enhance public confidence and ensure a safe environment for both participants and spectators. A "zero-tolerance enforcement" policy will be in effect for burnouts, reckless driving, and driving under the influence. Violations will result in tickets, arrests, and vehicles being towed.

As the largest car show in the Northeast, the Syracuse Nationals will celebrate its 25th anniversary at the New York State Fairgrounds. Hundreds of spectators often gather along Erie Boulevard East to watch the car parade. Attendees are advised to avoid the Hiawatha Boulevard and Solar Street area during registration times due to heavy traffic congestion.

Three local police agencies, the Syracuse Police Department, Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, and the State Police, will provide extra patrols during the three-day event, which starts on Friday and ends on Sunday. This coordinated approach aims to maintain safety and efficient traffic movement throughout the Syracuse Nationals Car Show.

  1. The increased patrols in the vicinity of Hiawatha Boulevard and Solar Street will extend to general-news topics such as crime-and-justice, with a "zero-tolerance enforcement" policy for burned-out tires, reckless driving, and driving under the influence, resulting in tickets, arrests, and vehicles being towed.
  2. In addition to ensuring traffic flow and safety during the Syracuse Nationals Car Show, law enforcement agencies will pay particular attention to non-vehicular issues, such as sports-betting activities that might arise in the event's crowds, due to the large number of attendees expected and the high-profile nature of the event.
