BBC withdraws Ozzy Osbourne documentary from broadcast schedule due to respect
The highly anticipated documentary, Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, was scheduled to air on BBC One on August 18, 2025. However, the broadcast has been postponed out of respect for the Osbourne family following the tragic death of Ozzy Osbourne last month.
The documentary, which offers unique and intimate access to the family, including Ozzy's children, Jack and Kelly, was filmed over three years as the Osbournes returned to the UK. It was initially conceived as a series entitled Home to Roost, but due to Ozzy's health issues, it morphed into a one-off.
The BBC spokesperson stated, "Our sympathies are with the Osbourne family at this difficult time. We are respecting the family's wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film." Although an exact new date has not been announced, the BBC has promised to confirm transmission details soon.
The documentary is billed as a moving and inspirational account of the last chapter of Ozzy Osbourne's life, revealing the extraordinary rollercoaster of the Osbournes' lives. The project was moved in the schedules to make way for an episode of Fake Or Fortune? on the same date.
Ozzy's final all-star gig was at Birmingham's Villa Park. Fans packed the city centre and chanted his name when his hearse passed through the streets on 30 July. Sharon Osbourne was in tears as she saw the mass of flowers left for her husband at "Sabbath Bridge."
The exact cause of Ozzy Osbourne's death, according to The New York Times, was cardiac arrest, but the family has not commented on this matter. The BBC has stated that they will air the documentary as soon as they can do so respectfully and in accordance with the family's wishes.
In summary, the air date for Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home has been postponed out of respect for the Osbourne family following Ozzy's death. The exact new air date is yet to be confirmed by the BBC.
