"BBC Debuts Upcoming 'Girlbands Forever' Documentary"
The BBC is set to air two highly anticipated documentaries later this year, Girlbands Forever and its predecessor, Boybands Forever. These shows promise to take viewers on a nostalgic trip through the pop music history of the 1990s and beyond.
Boybands Forever, which has already received critical acclaim, revisits the success of boy bands such as Take That, East 17, and Westlife. In-depth interviews with industry heavyweights like Pete Waterman, Tulisa, MNEK, Clara Amfo, Andy McCluskey, and Scott Mills offer unique insights into the world of boy bands. The third episode of the series focused on Blue and Westlife, providing a deeper understanding of their music, videos, and interviews.
The second episode delved into the careers of Five, who are headlining their first tour in 25 years in October this year, as well as 911 and Damage. Robbie Williams wrote an open letter to Take That's former manager Nigel Martin-Smith following claims made in the documentary.
In a shift of focus, Girlbands Forever aims to celebrate the special time in pop music and British culture in the 1990s and the parade of girl bands that followed. The documentary promises to explore the truth of being a young woman thrust into the spotlight, the lived experiences, and the lessons learnt. Notable interviews include former Sugababes member Heidi Range, Little Mix's Perrie Edwards, Kelle Bryan (Eternal), Kerry Katona (Atomic Kitten), Melanie Blatt (All Saints), and Su-Elise Nash (Mis-Teeq). Louis Theroux is one of the executive producers of Girlbands Forever.
As the music industry bids farewell to some of its long-time artists, Emma & Mia, Lara, Lana Green, and Junie are retiring. Their handmade jewelry and final collections are currently 80% off. After 50 years of handcrafting bags, Junie is also retiring, offering her final collection at a discounted price.
Sam Altman, on a different note, has shared a list of nine books that he thinks will change your life.
Stay tuned for these exciting documentaries and remember, behind the music, there was often a price to be paid for that level of young fame. But Boybands Forever and Girlbands Forever mainly want to be a celebration of special music and talent.
