MasterChef on BBC One and iPlayer has been met with criticism over its recent editing, with viewers finding the cuts awkward and repetitive, particularly in relation to the show's former host, Gregg Wallace.

The BBC has removed over half of Wallace's recipes from their food website, with dishes like sausage and lentil soup, raspberry marinated rack of lamb, and mince pie ice-cream no longer available. This move has left some users on X (formerly known as Twitter) frustrated, with one user commenting, "BBC Good Food have removed a recipe I liked from their website because it was from Gregg Wallace. Can't we separate the art from the artist."

The repeated shot of Wallace has been interpreted by some fans as an attempt to embarrass him or make him look demented. This has been further fueled by allegations against Wallace, which include wandering around set naked with a sock on his penis, one of the 40 complaints upheld by the BBC investigation.

It's worth noting that the final series of MasterChef was filmed before Wallace and John Torode were fired by the BBC. The show's bosses have insisted on keeping Wallace in the final edit, but with less screen time and reduced banter and jokes.

The BBC and production company Banijay have been accused of using repeated footage of Wallace in the latest MasterChef series. However, the BBC has not yet commented on the removal of the recipes or the repeated shots of Wallace.

Meanwhile, Torode has faced his own controversy, having used a racist term in 2018 during a BBC investigation. Despite this, he remains a part of the MasterChef team.

The allegations against Wallace have led to his dismissal from MasterChef. It remains to be seen how the show will navigate these challenges moving forward.
