Baysox Lose Game Despite Financial Success Against Altoona

The Chesapeake Baysox concluded their series against the Altoona Curve on Sunday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium, falling 4-2. The series finale saw Altoona's starter, Wilber Dotel, secure the win (W, 1-0), while the Baysox have yet to announce their pitcher for the game.

In the fourth inning, Duce Gourson added an RBI single for Altoona, while Silas Ardoin scored a run for Chesapeake with an RBI single of his own. Termarr Johnson and Jase Bowen each hit solo home runs for the Curve in the third and second innings, respectively.

Braxton Bragg, the 24-year-old pitcher for the Baysox, had a challenging outing, pitching 3.2 innings, giving up three runs, and striking out five batters. Despite the strong strikeout numbers, Bragg's recent performance has been less impressive, as he went 3.2 innings in a previous game, giving up three runs.

Bragg, a promising prospect for the Baltimore Orioles, has pitched 42 2/3 innings at Double-A this season, striking out 59 batters, according to the latest reports. His ERA stands at 2.32 in nine games with the Baysox. However, Bragg has been dealing with recurrent right forearm discomfort, which has been a concern after a previous forearm strain earlier in the season.

Meanwhile, Altoona's Antwone Kelly made a strong impression in his first Double-A start, securing a win (W, 1-0) for the Curve in their previous game.

As for the Baysox, Blake Money pitched five innings of one-run ball in his third Double-A appearance of the year, setting a new Double-A high with eight strikeouts in his outing. Ryan Harbin and Justin Meis combined for 3.1 innings of shutout relief for Altoona.

Looking ahead, single-game tickets, ticket plans, and group offers for the 2025 season are currently on sale for the Chesapeake Baysox. Fans can find more information on the Baysox schedule, tickets, and team news by calling (301) 805-6000, visiting Baysox.com, or following the team on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The first pitch of the next game is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.

In the light of Braxton Bragg's latest performance, the Chesapeake Baysox might consider reassessing the pitcher for their upcoming MLB-affiliated baseball games, considering his recent struggles and recurrent right forearm discomfort. Meanwhile, the promising prospect for the Baltimore Orioles, Antwone Kelly, secured another win for Altoona in a previous game, showcasing his promising start in Double-A.
