A 22-year-old driver from Bayreuth led police on a dangerous high-speed chase along the B15 federal highway near Hof. The incident began after he recklessly overtook an unmarked Border Police vehicle on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Authorities later discovered his reason for the reckless driving was simply being late for work.

The chase started when the man, driving at excessive speeds, overtook an unmarked Border Police car on the B15 near Hof. Instead of stopping, he accelerated further, reaching up to 190 km/h (118 mph) on the highway. Police immediately initiated a pursuit.
