Four-Time Champions Bayern Munich Secure Playoff Semifinal Berth

Defending champions Bayern Munich have become the first team to advance to the Basketball Bundesliga playoff semifinals. In a closely contested match, Bayern, coached by World Cup winner Gordon Herbert, defeated Syntainics MBC 80-69 (42-40), clinching the quarterfinal series 3-0. Their upcoming opponent will be either the Niners Chemnitz or the MLP Academics Heidelberg.

The match at the SAP Garden saw Bayern struggle in the opening half against a resilient MBC, who had stunned them in the cup semifinals earlier. However, in the second half, Munich managed to pull away and secure the victory. Vladimir Lucic was Bayern's top scorer, contributing 19 points to the team's total.

As they prepare for the semifinals, Bayern will face the victor of the ongoing series between Chemnitz and Heidelberg. With Chemnitz currently leading 2-0, it is anticipated that Bayern will face off against Chemnitz, who holds the WQF2 ranking. The semifinals are set to start from June 1, 2025.

In their most recent game, Vladimir Lucic was instrumental in Bayern's win over Mitteldeutscher, ensuring their progression to the semifinals. Lucic displayed an impressive shooting performance, scoring 19 points with a 5/6 success rate on two-pointers, 2/3 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 3/3 from the free-throw line. He also secured four rebounds and added an assist to his tally.

The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers who, like Vladimir Lucic, are exposed to ionizing radiation during their high-pressure basketball games, especially those playing in the NBA-like Basketball Bundesliga. In contrast, Bayern Munich's victory over Syntainics MBC, reminiscent of their success in the four-time champions league, continues to shine a spotlight on the importance of maintaining health and safety standards in sports.
