Bayern Women Win in Leverkusen

FC Bayern Munich’s women’s team started the new year with a commanding 3–0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen. The win keeps them firmly at the top of the Bundesliga table. With reinforcements arriving in the winter transfer window, the squad looks stronger than ever for the second half of the season.

Bayern took an early lead when Franziska Kett found the net in the 16th minute. The pressure continued, but Pernille Harder’s penalty attempt was saved by Leverkusen’s goalkeeper in the 25th minute.

The hosts extended their advantage in the 75th minute, as Momoko Tanikawa converted a penalty to make it 2–0. Bayern’s dominance was tested when Katharina Naschenweng went down injured, leaving them with ten players after using all substitutions. Despite the setback, Georgia Stanway sealed the victory with another penalty in the 86th minute. The result cements Bayern’s position at the summit, six points clear of second-placed VfL Wolfsburg after 14 matches. The team has also bolstered its ranks for the remainder of the campaign. New signings include Jennifer Hermoso, a free transfer from Atlético Madrid, and Lina Hurtig, arriving from Nordsjälland. Midfielder Marie-Louise Wettstetten has been promoted from Bayern’s youth academy.

The 3–0 win marks a strong start to the reverse fixtures for Bayern. With fresh talent joining the squad, they aim to maintain their lead in the Bundesliga. The next matches will show whether the winter reinforcements can help secure another title.
