Bavarian powerhouse FC Bayern Munich has snatched back the title of Germany's most loved football club in the Bundesliga, relegating Borussia Dortmund to second place in the annual popularity rankings, as per a survey by SLC Management. Last year, Dortmund seized the top spot for the first time, but Bayern has now reclaimed its position after a strong showing.

The popularity study took into account a total of 18 criteria, such as the number of members and fan clubs, stadium capacity utilization, and the clubs' reach in TV broadcasts and social media. Subjective factors like image and appeal, as determined by surveying relevant audiences, also played a role in compiling the ranking. Topics including sustainability, family friendliness, and league popularity were also considered.

SC Freiburg surged from the sixth position the previous year to third spot, while Union Berlin followed suit with a three-place advancement. The biggest casualties in the study were 1. FC Köln, which dropped from fifth to eight, Borussia Mönchengladbach, which plummeted from fourth to ninth following its relegation, and relegated Hertha BSC, which sank from 15th last year to 18th and last place. The Berliners, who were in eighth place two years ago, saw the most significant drop.

While the survey results from 2022 are not explicitly stated, factors influencing team popularity include performance in games, recent successes, attendance figures, media presence, and professionalism. Bayern Munich's ongoing dominance and remarkable achievements likely contributed to their ascent.
