Bayern Munich's player, Sané, competes in the World Cup tournament.
Fresh Perspective:
Leroy Sané's future with Bayern Munich has been sealed as he's headed to Galatasaray Istanbul, according to sporting director Max Eberl. The move comes with a twist as Sané will still suit up for the Club World Cup, despite the transfer.
Sané, age 29, expresses a desire to participate in the tournament for the initial two weeks, extending up to a potential quarter-final, until his contract with Bayern, the German football giants, expires on June 30. Eberl addressed the peculiar circumstance, describing it as a "head-scratcher for all of us."
Eberl: Sané Had the Final Say
In the US, Eberl confirmed that the planned extension with Sané until 2028 fell through due to financial constraints. But he emphasized that there's "no hard feelings" regarding Sané's decision not to accept the new Bayern contract offer. "He had the power to decide."
Reports suggest Sané could make a fortune with Galatasaray, an earning potential that wasn't feasible at Bayern, Eberl revealed. According to Galatasaray sources, Sané will pocket a net annual salary of nine million euros for the three-year contract, with an additional net loyalty bonus of three million euros per season. Bayern's offer, it appears, was substantially less.
Eberl also addressed the failed negotiations between the club and the national player: "We sat down. Then his representation changed." However, he clarified that the agreed-upon "figures remained unaltered."
Sané Joins Kane and Laimer by the Weekend
Additional attempts were made to bridge the gap in further discussions. "It's a tricky predicament: neither he nor Bayern Munich takes a hit. Sané has opted for Galatasaray. That's his personal choice."
Sané is expected to join the team in Orlando following the contract signing, which is slated for this Friday. Players like goal scorers Harry Kane and Konrad Laimer, who were last seen representing their respective countries, will also join the Bayern squad in Florida ahead of Sunday's (6:00 PM CET) Club World Cup opener against Auckland City from New Zealand.
In the US, Max Eberl confirmed that the negotiations for Leroy Sané to extend his contract with Bayern Munich until 2028 fell through, due to financial constraints. Instead, Sané has chosen to join Galatasaray Istanbul for a significant earning potential, playing football with his new team during the Club World Cup, despite the transfer.
