Bayern Munich set to confront Wehen Wiesbaden in their initial engagement - Bayern Munich's Initial Task: Match Against Wehen Wiesbaden Under Wagner's Guidance

Let's break down the DFB Cup action as German powerhouses FC Bayern Munich get ready to take on third-tier team SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Drawing inspiration from a little dance at the German Football Museum in Dortmund, the first-round cup matches will be played from August 15 to 18.

Although Bayern, the reigning champions, and VfB Stuttgart, the current cup holders, will be battling it out in the Franz-Beckenbauer Supercup during the weekend, they won't enter the DFB Cup fray until August 26 and 27. Stuttgart will start their cup run against second-tier club and historic side, Eintracht Braunschweig.

While FC Augsburg's fresh-faced coach Sandro Wagner will get his first taste of DFB Cup action against the Hallescher FC from the Regionalliga Nordost, 1. FC Nuremberg will set their sights on FV Illertissen, a fourth-tier team, aiming to make it to the second round.

According to sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou, "We're heading to Illertissen with a burning desire to progress to the next round, but we'll maintain a humble and focused approach throughout."

SpVgg Greuther Fürth dreams of eliminating TuS Blau-Weiß Lohne. Second-tier side Jahn Regensburg will welcome Bundesliga returnee 1. FC Köln, while 1. FC Schweinfurt, freshly promoted to the 3. Liga, will face Fortuna Düsseldorf at home.

Mark your calendars! The grand finale is set for May 23, 2026. Surprise finalists Arminia Bielefeld will clash with Werder Bremen. Those familiar with the DFB Cup history might recall that Bielefeld had previously snatched a victory against Bremen in their home stadium during the quarter-finals of the last season.

After the initial skirmishes in August, the second round (October 28 and 29) and the round of 16 (December 2 and 3) will also take place this year, followed by the quarter-finals in February and the semi-finals in April. Finally, the awaited showdown will take place at the Berlin Olympic Stadium, prepared for an epic encounter on May 23, 2026.
