Bayern Munich triumphed over Chelsea in their Champions League reunion, with Cole Palmer putting forth an admirable effort but ultimately falling short; mistakes from Trevoh Chalobah and Moises Caicedo proving detrimental to the Blues.

In a thrilling encounter at the Allianz Arena, Chelsea faced off against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, with the German giants emerging victorious by a 3-1 scoreline.

The match started on a high note for Chelsea, with Cole Palmer (8/10) finding the back of the net with a curling effort in the first half. However, Bayern Munich responded emphatically, with Harry Kane scoring two goals, one of which was a penalty kick.

Enzo Maresca, the Italian former professional soccer player who took over as Chelsea's head coach in 2023, coached the team in this match. Maresca opted to start Malo Gusto at right-back, who provided an assist but also contributed to Bayern's third goal.

Gusto's performance was rated at 6/10, with Tosin Adarabioyo (5/10) and Trevoh Chalobah (5/10) also struggling to contain Bayern's attacking threat. Marc Cucurella and Malo Gusto, both Chelsea defenders, also received ratings of 5/10.

Robert Sanchez, the Chelsea goalkeeper, put in a commendable performance, earning a rating of 7/10. Despite his efforts, Chelsea's defense was breached on multiple occasions, with Joao Pedro (5/10) being beaten by Olise in the lead-up to Bayern's opening goal.

Andrey Santos (6/10) replaced captain Reece James and thought he set up a second goal for Palmer, but the forward was offside. Pedro Neto (6/10) was lively on the counter but often lacked a finishing touch, with rarely anything on when he got into good positions.

In the second half, Alejandro Garnacho (6/10) replaced Pedro Neto and made a few good bursts down the left-hand side. Estevao (N/A) was a late second-half substitute and didn't have enough time to make an impact.

Enzo Fernandez (6/10) operated further forward and got into a couple of promising positions but was often thwarted by Bayern's defense. Despite their efforts, Chelsea were unable to mount a serious comeback, with Palmer's first-half goal proving to be their only consolation.

With this loss, Chelsea find themselves in a tough position in the Champions League group stages. They will look to bounce back in their next fixture, aiming to secure valuable points and keep their European dreams alive.
