Bayern Munich responds to Woltemade's demands: "That's it"
In a recent development, VfB Stuttgart has categorically ruled out a transfer of Nick Woltemade to Bayern Munich for the upcoming 2025/26 season. Alexander Wehrle, Stuttgart's CEO, confirmed this on August 16, 2025, stating emphatically that Woltemade "is our player and he will play for us this year."
This decision comes after Bayern Munich reportedly offered over €60 million for the talented midfielder, but fell short of meeting Stuttgart's valuation of €75 million. Woltemade's inclusion in Stuttgart's starting eleven for the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Bayern further emphasised the club's determination to keep him for the current season.
Despite this setback, speculation persists that Woltemade will move to Bayern in the summer of 2026, suggesting that the transfer saga may be merely delayed and not completely off the table. Meanwhile, Stuttgart are already scouting potential replacements, with Mainz’s Nelson Weiper emerging as a candidate to eventually succeed Woltemade.
A separate transfer saga surrounds Kingsley Coman, a Bayern Munich player. Although no direct link has been established between Coman's transfer and Woltemade's situation, the potential transfer could indirectly influence squad decisions and transfer priorities. However, it is worth noting that Coman was not part of the squad in Zürich due to sickness, and the transfer itself is not yet complete.
In response to the speculation, Wehrle suggested that if Bayern Munich truly wants to sign Woltemade, they should reach a resolution within the given time frame. Meanwhile, Sporting Director Thomas Hitzlsperger, also known as Freund, stated that there are no freedoms because Coman is still a player of Bayern Munich.
Interestingly, a higher transfer fee from Bayern than the previously reported €55 million could potentially bring new momentum to the transfer. Furthermore, the possibility of Bayern freeing up financial room by transferring offensive player Kingsley Coman to Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr could also impact the Woltemade transfer saga.
As the Supercup clash between Bayern Munich and Stuttgart approaches on Saturday, a decision on Woltemade's future must be made. The transfer of Woltemade remains a hot topic, with both clubs yet to reach a resolution. Stay tuned for more updates as the story unfolds.
