In a surprising twist at the pre-Champions League final media day, Matthias Sammer, the sporting director of German champions Bayern Munich, expressed no active interest in signing Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

Despite the ongoing transfer speculation surrounding the England international, Sammer stated that Bayern Munich is not currently pursuing a deal for Rooney. He also confirmed that there has been no contact between the two clubs regarding the potential transfer.

Rooney's future at Manchester United has been the subject of much debate recently, with the striker himself submitting a transfer request. However, Sammer's statements suggest that Bayern Munich is not among the clubs vying for the services of the veteran striker.

The Bavarian giants have instead set their sights on younger talent, with names such as Nico Williams, Eberechi Eze, Rafael Leão, Bradley Barcola, and Benjamin Sesko being linked with potential moves to the Allianz Arena.

Alex Ferguson, Rooney's former boss at Manchester United, remains in charge at Old Trafford, and the football club continues to employ the striker. Despite the lack of interest from Bayern Munich, the media continues to speculate about Rooney's potential move to the Bundesliga.

However, Sammer moved to play down talk of a Rooney signing, stating that he cannot answer what Rooney would bring to the Bundesliga. Rooney's future plans, which include management and punditry roles, have also been confirmed without any mention of a return to playing or links to Bayern Munich.

In light of these developments, it appears that Bayern Munich has distanced themselves from the Wayne Rooney transfer saga, with the club focusing on younger talent for their transfer deals. The uncertainty surrounding Rooney's future at Manchester United remains, but for now, it seems that a move to Bayern Munich is not on the cards.

Rooney's potential transfer to any European league, including the Premier League, seems to have excluded Bayern Munich, givenSammer's declaration that the club is not targeting the veteran striker. Despite widespread media speculation linking him with the Bundesliga, the focus of Bayern Munich now shifts towards acquiring younger talent like Nico Williams, Eberechi Eze, Rafael Leão, Bradley Barcola, and Benjamin Sesko.
