José Barcala, the new coach of FC Bayern Munich, has ambitious plans for the team. The development of this new identity will require patience, according to Barcala. Lena Oberdorf, the former Wolfsburg player, is one of the key players who will be instrumental in this process. Oberdorf has made her first appearances in test matches for FC Bayern this summer and her comeback for the team is imminent. After more than a year of recovery from an ACL tear, Oberdorf is showing her quality in preparation for the season opener on August 30th.
Unfortunately, Giulia Gwinn, who was voted footballer of the year, will not be available for the season opener. She is still recovering from an injury to her left knee. However, Bayern director Bianca Rech has reported that Gwinn is on a very good recovery path and will join the team soon.
The season opener for FC Bayern Munich will be against VfL Wolfsburg on August 30th in Karlsruhe. Meanwhile, the game against Bayer Leverkusen in the Allianz Arena has already attracted a lot of interest, with 44,000 tickets sold for the match.
