It's been a rollercoaster ride for national player Leroy Sané at FC Bayern—contract extension talks were on the horizon, and then he switched agents. Bayern's sports director, Max Eberl, maintains a clear stance. He's got a bone to pick with Florian Wirtz, too.
Bayern was on the verge of extending Sané's contract, set to expire in summer, before he decided to sign on with none other than notorious agent Pini Zahavi and his "Piranha" team. "Our ideal scenario is to keep Leroy," said Eberl, "but we've got our limits. If those are surpassed, well, it'd be an uphill battle." Eberl cautioned, stressing the conditional. He won't budge on the agreed terms, or else it'd open a pandora's box, he warned.
No Ill Blood for Sané
Eberl maintained the club was taken aback by the player's sudden move to a new rep. Yet, he had nothing but respect for Sané's decision. "No hard feelings towards Leroy. If he feels the need for this change, then so be it." Each player has the right to choose their representation, after all.
"We've got a ratings-worthy relationship with both agencies, old and new," Eberl added. "We've always approached our talks honestly. Zahavi's also repped Lewandowski in the past and moved to Barca. Eberl remained tight-lipped about whether this hints at Sané's own departure plans."
Coach Vincent Kompany apprised Sané on their plans for the coming season, and the convo reportedly went smoothly. "I comprehend a player needs to mull things over and weigh all options carefully. It's a critical decision point in his career. Likewise, I empathize with the club's stance."
Eberl's Grit on Wirtz Rumors
Eberl's not much fussed about the chatter swirling around Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz making his way to Bayern. He doesn't concern himself with the rumors. The topic's been under the spotlight for eons, he said, and added a general remark: "We'll do our thing, ruminate over ideas, and see what we can actualize. Once we see the squad at the Club World Cup and the new season, we'll strategize accordingly."
So there you have it. Sané and Bayern are close to ink on a contract extension, but with a pay cut, and things just got a bit rockier with the switch of agents. Bayern's not moving that salary needle any further, period.

- Enrichment Data:Leroy Sané's current contract with Bayern Munich runs out in June 2025. The club offered him a contract extension reportedly until June 2028, but this deal would demand a significant salary reduction. While Sané now makes €20 million gross yearly, the proposed offer would see his base pay slashed by about 50%, to around €10 million gross annually, with possible performance bonuses expected to boost the total to approximately €14-16 million gross annually[2][3]. Despite some inconsistency, Bayern values Sané's contributions, as Eberl continues to support him[2][3].
