Let's Get This Bayern Show on the Road! Preparations for the 2025 Club World Cup
Gearing Up with the Boys in Munich
FC Bayern Munich resumes training for the Club World Cup with Musiala's return - Bayern Munich initiates World Cup training sessions
With the dust settled on their last Bundesliga match, FC Bayern München has embarked on a training journey for the upcoming Club World Cup. The lads, including Dayot Upamecano, Jamal Musiala, and a few others, are back in the fold, having shaken off their injury-induced layoffs and international duties.
Alongside them, loanees Maurice Krattenmacher and Adam Aznou, who've been with SSV Ulm and Real Valladolid, have returned to train under the watchful eye of coach Vincent Kompany.
Countdown to USA Bound
The Club World Cup in the good old U.S.A. kicks off from June 15 to July 13. Our beloved Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund will represent Germany in this global spectacular. To prepare, Kompany's squad will perform five training sessions before they bid farewell to Bavaria on June 10, bound for their base camp in sunny Orlando, Florida.
Their debut clash will take place against Auckland City FC in Cincinnati on June 15, 6 pm German time. The victorious team could snag up to $125 million (around €116 million) at this tournament.
International Duties
In the initial stages of preparations, Kompany will only have a fraction of his team due to international commitments for the World Cup. Even João Palhinha, who will play in the Nations League final for Portugal on June 11 in Munich, will join the group later.
Long-Term Goals for Palhinha
Despite his recent transfer to FC Bayern for around €50 million last year, defensive player João Palhinha is keeping his sights set on the long game. Yearning for a place in Munich's heart, he acknowledges the possibility of a departure if chances become scarce:
"My contract here runs for another three years. I want to play for this club," Palhinha affirmed on Thursday night. "But I need to discuss with the coach and the responsible persons whether I'll get my chance. If not, we need to find the best solution."
In only 24 competitive games, Palhinha has made his mark in the crowded midfield. "Football is the present. I'm ready to fight for everything in my life to achieve something. My dream is to be successful here," stated the Portuguese. "Nothing in my life has been easy, and that's something that makes me proud."
