Bayern Munich has secured the transfer of Luis Diaz from Liverpool FC
Luis Díaz, the Colombian international winger, has officially joined FC Bayern Munich following his transfer from Liverpool on July 30, 2025. The 28-year-old will don the number 14 jersey at the Allianz Arena, signing a contract that will keep him with the German champions until June 30, 2029.
Díaz spent three-and-a-half years at Liverpool, where he made a significant impact. In his first half-season with the Reds, he scored an impressive six goals and provided four assists in 26 appearances, contributing to Liverpool's push for a quadruple of trophies. Although a serious knee injury limited his 2022-23 season to only 21 appearances, Díaz still played a crucial role in winning four major trophies, including the Premier League title in the 2021-22 season.
Speaking about the transfer, Bayern's Sports Director, Mayer Eberl, commented, "Luis Díaz is a top international winger with pace, goal threat, versatility, and hard work. He will be an important boost for our squad following the departures of key attacking players and injury setbacks."
Díaz's salary at Bayern is reportedly around €14 million before taxes, a 66% pay increase from his Liverpool wages, making this a significant financial commitment and risk for Bayern amid their efforts to strengthen their attack.
Díaz's international career also adds to his profile, having represented Colombia at the highest level since 2018. In 64 international matches, he has scored 19 goals.
Eberl is confident that Díaz will immediately help the team. He stated, "This transfer works when every wheel fits into the other."
Liverpool signed Díaz from FC Porto in January 2022 for 45 million euros. Now, FC Bayern Munich's fans can look forward to an extraordinary player joining their ranks.
Luis Díaz's impact in sports, particularly football, extends beyond his tenure at Liverpool. As he joins European-league giants FC Bayern Munich, his expertise and goal-scoring abilities in the winger position are anticipated to significantly contribute to their attack, given his record-breaking performances in the Premier League and international competitions.
