Bayern Munich has expressed interest in acquiring a previous shot-stopper.
In a potential shakeup for the footballing world, Bayern Munich is reportedly pursuing a transfer for Chelsea's versatile attacker, Christopher Nkunku.
Nkunku, who won the Conference League with Chelsea in the spring and the Club World Cup in July, has expressed his desire to leave Stamford Bridge, citing a drop in playing time under the current management.
The German giants have shown keen interest in the French international, with talks between Bayern and Nkunku's club reportedly underway. The sporting director of Bayern Munich, Max Eberl, is in contact with Nkunku's management, according to recent reports.
Bayern Munich's interest in Nkunku comes at a time when they have lost key players like Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller, Mathys Tel, Kingsley Coman, and DFB star Jamal Musiala due to transfers and injuries. So far, only Luis Díaz has been signed as a replacement.
Chelsea values Nkunku at around €50 million (£43.1 million), but they are open to a slightly lower initial fee plus add-ons if it guarantees a permanent deal for the player. Bayern, on the other hand, is believed to prefer a loan deal, which was initially rejected by Chelsea.
Other clubs like Newcastle United and Inter Milan have also shown interest in Nkunku, but Bayern and his former club RB Leipzig have shown the most serious interest. The potential transfer to Bayern Munich appears possible but is not yet confirmed.
As the football season approaches, Bayern Munich is likely to be active again in the transfer market following the departure of Kingsley Coman. The club is expected to make another offer for Nkunku soon.
Meanwhile, this week's MOPO includes a range of topics, from rent madness and a bisexual pastor's story, to a vacation series in the Mitte district and a project helping older people find jobs in Wilhelmsburg. The big puzzle supplement, 20 pages of sports, and 20 pages of Plan7, including a new burlesque festival in Hamburg, are also part of this week's issue. The MOPO will be available everywhere from Friday.

Bayern Munich's interest in Nkunku, who previously won the Conference League with Chelsea, might lead him to transfer from Stamford Bridge, given his expressed desire for increased playing time and Bayern's reported negotiations with his club. The Champions League and other European leagues could potentially see Nkunku feature for Bayern Munich, should the transfer be confirmed.
