"Bayern Munich faces a demand from VfB in the Woltemade negotiations."
As the curtain falls on the transfer window, the much-anticipated move for DFB Cup winner Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart to Bayern Munich has come to a close, with the player remaining at his current club.
In a recent event hosted by the "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten", VfB Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle confirmed that the transfer is no longer an option for this summer. Woltemade will be suiting up for Stuttgart in the upcoming Super Cup match against Bayern Munich, scheduled for 8:30 PM on Saturday and broadcast on Sat.1 and Sky.
Wehrle stated that ideally, everything should have been sorted out by kick-off of the Super Cup. Bayern Munich's offers did not meet Stuttgart's valuation, with the highest offer reportedly around €60 million, below Stuttgart's demanded €75 million. Consequently, the clubs decided to stop negotiations.
Woltemade, who has publicly expressed his desire to play for Bundesliga rival FC Bayern Munich in the future, participated in the Supercup match as a Stuttgart player, impressing despite the loss.
Wehrle reiterated that a higher transfer fee than previously offered would not change the situation, implying Woltemade will stay at VfB Stuttgart. If FC Bayern Munich truly wants to sign Woltemade, they should be able to find a solution within six and a half weeks, according to Wehrle.
It's important to note that Bayern Munich's reported offer for Woltemade is 55 million euros, including a 50 million transfer fee and five million in potential bonus payments. However, this number has not been officially confirmed by the club.
Despite the end of negotiations, Bayern Munich's sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić left the possibility open last Wednesday, stating that a transfer of Woltemade was "off the table", but the transfer period runs until 1 September.
As the Super Cup match approaches, both teams will be eager to put the transfer saga behind them and focus on the football. The match promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams boasting talented squads and a fierce rivalry.
