VfB Stuttgart Stands Firm on Nick Woltemade's Future

Nick Woltemade's transfer from VfB Stuttgart to FC Bayern Munich has been a hot topic in German football circles, but the matter has now been officially closed. VfB Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle has confirmed that Woltemade will remain a Stuttgart player for the 2025/26 season.

The ultimatum set by Stuttgart for Bayern Munich regarding Woltemade's transfer must be met by the time of the Supercup, which is scheduled for this Saturday and will be broadcast on Sat.1 and Sky. Wehrle made these statements at an event of the "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten".

Bayern Munich had reportedly offered 55 million euros for Woltemade, including a 50 million transfer fee and 5 million in potential bonus payments. However, Stuttgart has been seeking a transfer fee of around 65 million euros for the national team striker, although this figure has not been officially confirmed by the club.

Despite Bayern's substantial offers, Stuttgart has rejected them, citing that losing Woltemade would cause major sporting losses, outweighing any financial gain. Wehrle emphasized that Bayern Munich is aware of this and agreed collectively that Woltemade will play for Stuttgart this season.

Woltemade's agent and Bayern have not ruled out future moves entirely, but for now, Stuttgart intends to keep the striker and will negotiate to satisfy all parties internally. Wehrle implied that the door will close for negotiations after the Supercup weekend and everything should be clarified by the kick-off of the Supercup at the latest.

The news comes just before and after the 2025 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup match between Stuttgart and Bayern, where both clubs acknowledged Woltemade's status with Stuttgart for the season. Woltemade's wish to play for Bundesliga rival FC Bayern Munich in the future became public knowledge about six and a half weeks ago.

In summary, as of late August 2025, Nick Woltemade's transfer to Bayern Munich has been decisively blocked by Stuttgart’s management, and he will stay at Stuttgart for the current season following the Supercup. The Supercup will be broadcast on Sat.1 and Sky, and the door for negotiations between the two clubs is likely to close after the Supercup weekend.
