Bayern Munich Pauses Further Transfers After Securing Luis Diaz
After a successful summer transfer window that saw Bayern Munich sign Colombian international Luis Diaz from Liverpool, the Bavarian giants appear to be pausing further transfers for the time being. The club spent heavily on Diaz, with bids reaching up to €67.5 million, although they are reportedly close to a target fee of €80 million.
However, one transfer that will not be happening is the signing of national player Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart. Despite Bayern's efforts, including a €55 million bid, and Woltemade being open to the move, the clubs have not agreed on the transfer fee. Stuttgart is reportedly valuing Woltemade around €65–80 million, and they have firmly ruled out selling him this summer.
Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle emphasized that they want to enter the season with Woltemade, and no negotiations are ongoing at the moment. The clubs will face each other soon in the DFL-Supercup, with Stuttgart wanting to resolve the Woltemade issue well before the match.
Bayern Munich's sporting director, Max Eberl, expressed satisfaction after the team's victory over Tottenham, and indicated no immediate further transfers are planned. Eberl stated that the recovery of long-term injured players Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Hiroki Ito influences transfer planning, as all three are expected to return in October or November. If they still have those three, Eberl believes they will have an excellent squad.
Seven other players' contracts are set to expire at the end of the season, including those of high earners like Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry, as well as Dayot Upamecano. Eberl stated that Upamecano is a target they want to extend. Minjea Kim, the central defender, is considered a sale candidate, and Eberl mentioned that if someone comes along and wants to leave the club, they would have to reconsider.
In other transfer news, Lennart Karl scored a goal against Tottenham, advertising for more playing time as backup for Michael Olise in the new season. Eberl indicated that Karl is close to extending his contract in Munich. Bayern Munich has not inquired about striker Nicolas Jackson from FC Chelsea.
With the transfer window still open until the end of the month, Bayern Munich is not ruling out further new stars. After the arrivals of Luis Diaz, Jonathan Tah, and Tom Bischof, the pressure is considered to be off for further transfer activities, but the squad remains "very happy" with the current roster.

The Commission has requested Bayern Munich to consider a proposal for a directive on the approximation of laws across European Member States related to the protection of workers from carcinogen risks, as the club is currently navigating various transfer issues. Despite the recent pause in transfer activity, the upcoming DFL-Supercup match against VfB Stuttgart is a reminder of the intense sports competition that exists in European football leagues.
