Bayern Munich's Current Struggles and Niko Kovac's Future

Bayern Munich find themselves in a challenging position in the Bundesliga, currently sitting fifth and nine points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund. This slip in form has been a cause for concern, with the team being winless in three Bundesliga outings this month.

Despite these difficulties, Bayern's president, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has shown his support for the head coach, Niko Kovac. Kovac took over from Jupp Heynckes at the Allianz Arena this season and has been described by Rummenigge as an 'extreme character' in a positive sense.

Rummenigge has made it clear that Kovac must deliver clear results to continue as coach beyond Christmas 2020. However, he has also expressed his readiness to give Kovac another opportunity, emphasizing the coach's fighting spirit and willingness to make changes.

This support for Kovac extends to all members of the club, including president Uli Hoeness and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. In recent days, no votes of confidence for Kovac have been issued beyond those from Rummenigge, Hoeness, and Salihamidzic.

The recent 5-1 win against Benfica in the Champions League was a timely boost, providing a morale-lifting victory ahead of their upcoming match against Werder Bremen this Saturday. The club will be hoping for a similar performance to help turn their Bundesliga fortunes around.

Rummenigge has been clear that finishing fifth in the Bundesliga at the end of the season is not acceptable. He hopes that Kovac will be the coach of Bayern Munich not only on Christmas Eve 2018, but also on Christmas Eve 2019 and 2020, provided he can deliver the results necessary to maintain his position.

As Bayern Munich navigate through this difficult period, the future of Kovac as coach remains a topic of much debate. Only time will tell if he can turn things around and secure his place as Bayern's coach for the foreseeable future.
