Bayern Loanee Stanisic: "Negative Mood Doesn't Help"

23-year-old Josip Stanisic is making strides on the soccer field, tallying up assists in the DFB Cup and Europa League, but things could be better for him personally, as he shared after Bayer Leverkusen's 3:1 cup victory against SC Paderborn. Despite his loan move from FC Bayern Munich, Stanisic has only started once in the Bundesliga, predominantly playing in the Europa League or in cup games when coach Xabi Alonso rotates.

"I could be in my first cup final, and it's not typical of me to set up goals, but you're always developing," said the Croatian. "I'll admit things could be going better for me, but the 21 competitive games without defeat for my team are still the most important thing for me. Plus, it's not helpful to put the team in a negative mood despite having days where I feel better, or worse, than others," added Stanisic.

Prior to his three assists in a week, Stanisic hadn't set up a goal in over two years. He might have had more appearances in Munich due to Benjamin Pavard's departure and Thomas Tuchel's defense shortage. Curiously, despite not reaching a final with Bayern, Josip Stanisic is still in the cup with Leverkusen, leading the Bundesliga table ahead of his parent club.

Stanisic may have gained valuable playing time, leadership opportunities, and personal growth during his loan to Leverkusen. However, initial struggles and a subsequent injury setback have presented challenges. But the determined loanee is focused on regaining his regular spot in the team and contributing to Bayern Munich's success.

Josip Stanisic's temporary move to Bayer Leverkusen came with opportunities and challenges. While things could be better for him personally, he focuses on the team's success and continues to grow as a player. The question remains if his future lies with Bayern Munich or he'll seize the opportunity to shine in a more prominent role at Leverkusen. As the 2024-25 season unfolds, only time will tell if Stanisic finally reaches the cup final he's missed in both his Leverkusen and Bayern tenures.
