Saying goodbye to center Freddie Gillespie, the 26-year-old US-American, FC Bayern basketball has made a move. After a year and a half, the offensive beast is heading to Red Star Belgrade, a participant in the Serbian Euroleague.

In a statement, Daniele Baiesi, Sporting Director at FC Bayern, shared, "Freddie was fantastic on and off the court. However, sometimes a player can't be content with their role due to a deep rotation. That was the case with Freddie recently." He added, "We wish him nothing but the best for his upcoming journey."

Gillespie, a defensive powerhouse standing at 2.06 meters, first joined FC Bayern in the summer of 2022, coming from the development team of the NBA club Memphis Grizzlies. Reflecting on his time in Munich, he said, "It wasn't always easy on the court, but it was all worth it. I'll always be grateful for my time in Munich." Gillespie played 47 Euroleague games and 41 Bundesliga games for FC Bayern Munich.

The two teams will meet again in Munich's Euroleague home game against Red Star Belgrade on March 1.
