Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick signs long-term contract commitment
Bayer Leverkusen's star striker, Patrik Schick, has extended his contract with the club until 2030, securing his position as a vital player for the German side's future ambitions.
The Czech national player, who joined Leverkusen in 2020, has been a driving force of development for the club. In the 2024/25 season alone, Schick was the club's top scorer with 21 Bundesliga goals, demonstrating his consistent finishing ability with both feet and his head.
Simon Rolfes, the Sporting Director of Bayer 04, praised Schick's contributions, stating that he is not only a prolific striker but also a key leadership figure. Rolfes described Schick as a "motor of development" and a player providing "stability and structure" for the team's rebuild under new head coach Erik ten Hag.
Schick himself expressed his commitment to both scoring goals and playing a pivotal role in building a new title-capable Bayer Leverkusen team. He highlighted his belief that the club will maintain a significant role in Bundesliga and European football.
Reports indicate that Schick’s new contract makes him one of the highest earners at the BayArena, and he is expected to have an important leadership role, potentially as a vice-captain, especially given the squad changes this summer. The upcoming season raises key questions about how Schick will continue his scoring form and how he will fit tactically under ten Hag, including if he will play alongside fellow striker Taiwo Awoniyi Boniface.
Meanwhile, Alejandro Grimaldo, the current vice-champions' left-back, has expressed his determination to take on more responsibility at Bayer 04. The Spanish defender is looking forward to contributing more to the team and being a pillar in building a new and title-winning team at Bayer 04.
