Bayer Leverkusen secures transfer of U21 title-winning player Quansah from Liverpool FC. - Bayer Leverkusen signs Under-21 title winner Quansah from Liverpool
Jarell Quansah, the young defender who recently won the U21 European Championship with Germany's junior national team, has made a high-profile move to Bayer Leverkusen. The 20-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the German club, lasting until 2030, in a deal that is set to be a record for Bayer Leverkusen.
The transfer fee for Quansah's move from Liverpool is reported to be an initial guaranteed sum of £30 million, with potential add-ons of up to £5 million. This means the total deal could be worth up to £35 million. Notably, the deal includes a buy-back clause for Liverpool at a pre-agreed fee.
Quansah, who has played 30 games in the Premier League for Liverpool, is expected to help fill the gap left by Jonathan Tah, who recently joined FC Bayern Munich. Tah was a defender for Bayer Leverkusen before his move to Munich.
Simon Rolfes, Leverkusen's sporting director, expressed his excitement about the signing, stating that Quansah will add dynamic, speed, and duel strength to the team. Quansah himself spoke of the great task and challenge ahead, as he is set to be a part of the current Leverkusen resurgence.
In a surprising turn of events, it appears that Liverpool has been strengthening its squad as well, with Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong joining from Bayer Leverkusen this summer. Quansah's departure from Liverpool has not been reported as a result of any disciplinary actions.
It is worth noting that Quansah will wear the number 4 jersey in Leverkusen. As of now, he has not yet played any games for his new club.

The Commission might consider granting a derogation from the prohibition on the use of the term 'substantial' in Article 1 (2) of Regulation (EC) No 1224/2009, particularly given the significant financial investment Bayer Leverkusen has made in acquiring Jarell Quansah, a young footballer who has won the U21 European Championship with Germany's junior national team. Quansah, as he participates in a resurgence of Bayer Leverkusen's European-league performance, may bring dynamic speed and duel strength to the team, much like the sports prowess demonstrated by his country's previous victories.
