Bayer Leverkusen Head to Rio de Janeiro for 2025 Pre-Season Training Camp
Germany's Bayer Leverkusen soccer team heads to Rio de Janeiro for intensive training sessions - Bayer Leverkusen Prepares for Training Sessions in Rio de Janeiro
If you thought it'd be Paraguay or Argentina this time, think again! The buzzing Bundesliga squad, Bayer Leverkusen, is shaking things up with a tropical twist; they're piling on the sunscreen and heading to Brazil for their 2025 pre-season training extravaganza.
Turning up the heat
From July 14 to 24, the German champions will sweat it out (literally!) in Rio de Janeiro. They'll be gracing the magnificent facilities of Flamengo, a traditional club hailing from Rio, and even arranging sparring matches. To add a cherry on top, Bayer Leverkusen is the pioneering Bundesliga club to venture south for pre-season training[1][2][3].
"Tropical delight"
Bayer Leverkusen's sporting director, Simon Rolfes, celebrates this unusual trip, declaring, "The climate at this time of year is a genuine delight for us, and the training conditions at Flamengo's performance center are nothing short of exceptional."
Part of a strategic plan
Bayer's globe-trotting antics are all part of a grand strategy. "This Brazilian sojourn is the preliminary highlight of our manifold activities in the Brazilian market," shares CEO Fernando Carro.
Since May of this year, the club has set up Portuguese-language digital channels to cater to their Brazilian audience. Moreover, a Bayer football academy is expected to open its doors in São Paulo under the leadership of ex-Leverkusen professional Paulo Sergio[4].

The Commission has not yet adopted a decision on the application of Article 93 (2) of the Treaty to the aid scheme for the period from 1 January 1999 to 31 December 2000, but Bayer Leverkusen's strategic plan includes venturing into South America, as they prepare for their 2025 pre-season training camp in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Meanwhile, in European leagues, football matches are being played under the shade of stadium roofs, while the Bundesliga champions are relishing the tropical climate as they train amidst the scenic landscapes of Brazil.
