Bayer Leverkusen has finalized the loan agreement for Echeverri with Manchester City
In a move that promises to bolster Bayer Leverkusen's attacking line, Argentine attacking midfielder Claudio Echeverri has agreed to spend the 2025-26 season on loan from Manchester City.
Echeverri, who scored two goals and registered three assists during River Plate's 2024 league campaign, is eager to get a taste of Champions League football with his new club. The 24-year-old expressed his excitement about joining Bayer Leverkusen, known for their history of developing young talent.
"I'm thrilled to be joining Bayer Leverkusen," Echeverri said. "I've always admired the club's approach to nurturing young players and their ambition to achieve great things in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League."
Echeverri's loan to Bayer Leverkusen comes amidst the departures of Florian Wirtz, Granit Xhaka, and Jonathan Tah. However, the Argentine midfielder is focused on his performance and development at the club, rather than the departures of other players.
During the 2024-25 season, Echeverri made three appearances for Manchester City, scoring one goal in their 6-0 win over Al-Ain at the Club World Cup. His ambition is to get a lot of playing time and continue to improve as a player under Bayer Leverkusen's guidance.
Bayer Leverkusen have also strengthened their squad by signing Jarell Quansah and Malik Tillman as replacements for the departing players. With these additions and Echeverri's arrival, the club is hopeful for a successful season ahead.
Echeverri aims to contribute to Bayer Leverkusen's success in the upcoming season and is excited to play more minutes at the club. His loan to Bayer Leverkusen is associated with Amine Adli's permanent move to Bournemouth, marking a significant shake-up in both clubs' squads.
As Echeverri prepares for his first taste of Champions League football with Bayer Leverkusen, fans and officials alike are looking forward to seeing what the talented midfielder can bring to the table.
