Bayer Leverkusen extended the contract of their female coach, Pätzold.
Bayer Leverkusen's women's team has secured the services of head coach Roberto Pätzold for an additional year, following a successful season marked by the club's highest-ever placement in the Bundesliga. Pätzold, who joined Leverkusen in 2024, has signed a contract extension that extends his tenure until June 30, 2027. His original contract was set to expire in the summer of 2026.
Thomas Eichin, director of licensing at Bayer 04 Leverkusen, praised Pätzold's leadership, saying, "The team's development under Roberto has been impressive. We made a strong push for Champions League spots until the second-to-last matchday, which is a significant accomplishment." Eichin also highlighted the team's success in implementing a clear playing concept that surpassed the club's expectations.
In his first season with the club, Pätzold led the team to a record-breaking season, securing 43 points and finishing fourth in the Bundesliga. Prior to his tenure with Leverkusen, Pätzold coached the men's second-division side FC Ingolstadt.
