Liverpool's Mega-Bid for Wirtz Falls Short Again: Bayer Leverkusen Digs In

Heard the latest on Florian Wirtz? Seems like it's a dance between Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool FC. According to Kicker, Liverpool's second offer for the rising star has once again met a cold shoulder from Leverkusen. The most recent bid was a fixed sum of 118 million euros, plus an additional 12 million euros in bonuses.

In their initial move, Liverpool tossed out a lower offer of 100 million euros, with an extra 15 million euros in add-ons. However, the Bayer crew is reportedly eyeing a heftier sum—far beyond the 150 million euros publicly named as the minimum amount by managing director Fernando Carro.

More dough or a trade-in deal?

The current hurdle of at least 20 million euros needs to be cleared somehow, likely through more talks or by tossing another player into the mix.

Leverkusen seems to have its sights set on a Liverpool player, with rumors swirling that attacker Harvey Elliott is a key player in their internal debates. Sky Sports recently connected Liverpool's 2024 German champs with Elliott and his teammate, Jarell Quansah.

Why Wirtz came with a hefty price tag

The 22-year-old Wirtz appears ready to bid Leverkusen adieu and give Liverpool FC a warm welcome. He's even turned down the attention of Bayern Munich, the country's record champions.

Wirtz's Leverkusen contract ends in June 2027, and it doesn't contain a release clause, making the transfer fee up for negotiation. Reportedly, Manchester City dropped out of the race for Wirtz due to the expensive overall package.

    • Liverpool's willingness to offer additional bonuses and flexible payment structures could help bridge the negotiation gap.
    • Including another player in the deal or offering creative financial structuring could potentially sweeten the offer and meet Leverkusen's demands.
    • Wirtz's strong interest in joining Liverpool and his agreement on personal terms may put some pressure on Leverkusen during the negotiations.
  • It seems that the Commission has not yet received any information on the situation in the European football leagues, as the ongoing transfer negotiations between Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool FC regarding the young footballer Florian Wirtz are ongoing, with no update on the situation yet.
  • Despite Liverpool's latest offer of 118 million euros for Florian Wirtz, plus an additional 12 million euros in bonuses, the Commission might be interested to know that competitor teams, like Manchester City, have dropped out of the race due to the expensive overall package, potentially indicating a heftier sum may be necessary to secure the footballer's transfer from Leverkusen to Liverpool FC.
