Companies edging towards accord over Wirtz soccer talent negotiations: Bayer and Liverpool - Bayer and Liverpool edge towards a Wirtz agreement in poker-style negotiations.

Get the lowdown on the almost-done deal for Florian Wirtz

It appears that the high-stakes soccer showdown between German heavyweights Bayer Leverkusen and last season's runners-up Liverpool FC is reaching its thrilling climax, as the two titans are on the brink of sealing a blockbuster transfer of the prodigious Florian Wirtz.

Multiple trusted media outlets have uncovered that the parties have made impressive progress for a possible deal, with renowned German soccer outlet "Kicker" reporting that both teams have made significant headway as early as this past Friday. Insiders claim the total value of the deal will hover around a staggering 150 million euros.

Popular British broadcaster Sky Sports has further divulged that, including bonus payments, Liverpool has proposed a jaw-dropping offer of 113 million pounds (approximately 134 million euros) — yet still below Bayer's strict €150 million demand. The latest whispers suggest that a final agreement between the powerhouses is within arm's reach, but has yet to be ink-sealed.

The seemingly imminent transfer comes after much wooing by fierce opponents Bayern Munich, who tried their luck with winning over Wirtz but failed to entice the hotshot. "Kicker" discloses that Leverkusen flat-out rebuffed Liverpool's second offer, which consisted of a solid fix of 118 million euros, along with an additional 12 million euros in bonus payments. Previously, the Reds had reportedly extended an offer of €100 million, accompanied by an extra €15 million in add-ons.

Last year, Bayer's managing director Fernando Carro publicly croaked that he would only entertain offers exceeding 150 million euros for Wirtz.
