Bayer Leverkusen on the Brink of Appointing Erik ten Hag as New Coach

Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly on the cusp of securing the services of Dutch coach Erik ten Hag. According to Kicker reports, the deal with the 55-year-old strategist is now considered a "done deal." With terms of a contract already agreed in principle, Ten Hag is expected to pen a two-year contract in Leverkusen, although the deal is said to span approximately two and a half years, ending in June 2027.

The confirmation of Ten Hag's appointment comes following the departure of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid. Having previously managed Manchester United, Ten Hag will be tasked with rebuilding and maintaining Leverkusen's competitive edge in the league after a successful season under Alonso, where they won both the Bundesliga and the German Cup.

Prior to Ten Hag's arrival, former Ajax coach Cesc Fàbregas had been among the candidates. However, recent evasive comments from the 37-year-old Spaniard saw him fall out of contention, effectively opening the door for Ten Hag.
