"Battlefield 6 Open Beta Week 2 Commencement Timeline and Anticipated Features"
The first weekend of Battlefield 6's open beta has been an incredibly promising start, attracting over 5 million players across all platforms and outpacing all Call Of Duty titles on Steam in its first free weekend. With over 520,000 concurrent players, the excitement for the upcoming release is palpable.
The beta has provided players with a glimpse of the modern-day setting, a departure from the historical shooters (Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5) and the futuristic setting of Battlefield 2042. The open beta featured a fourth map called "Empire State," which takes place in Brooklyn, and several modes such as Conquest, Breakthrough, Closed Weapons Breakthrough, Domination, and King of the Hill. Rush and Deathmatch will be included in Battlefield 6's Open Beta weekend 2, which will take place from Thursday, August 14th to Monday, August 18th.
However, the beta has not been without its issues. The Big Map opacity slider within settings is currently non-functional, and out-of-bounds elements for air vehicles are missing on the Capstone overview map. Additionally, players can expect to see more known issues during the second weekend, as it's unclear how many will be resolved in time.
Design director Shashank Uchil has stated that Battlefield 6's Soldier Skins will be more grounded and not feature celebrity skins like Beavis and Butthead or Fortnite-style skins. This is a departure from other games in the first-person shooter genre, such as Delta Force, which has been plagued with rampant cheating and other issues, making it almost unplayable.
Based on feedback from the first Open Beta weekend, several key features and improvements are anticipated for the final launch. Weapons and combat balance adjustments include tweaks to recoil and tap-fire mechanics, changes to the M87A1 shotgun's lethality, and ongoing reviews of time-to-kill and time-to-death to refine combat pacing.
Movement mechanics are also being refined, with reduced momentum when sliding into jumps to tighten player control, consecutive jumps having a lowered height limit to prevent exploitative mobility, and parachute physics being tuned for greater control during descents.
Maps and level design are being updated to fix unintended rooftop and out-of-bounds exploits, with larger-scale maps and new maps like Mirak Valley and Operation Firestorm remake being tested. Objective layouts have been updated with improved cover, resized objectives, and repositioned turrets for balanced gameplay on both sides.
Game modes and player counts are also being adjusted, with default player counts in Rush mode being reduced to encourage more tactical play, larger Rush matches remaining available via Portal, Breakthrough mode supporting higher player counts, and small-scale modes like Team Deathmatch and Domination featuring 8v8 player counts for tighter, more focused matches.
The class system is also undergoing an overhaul, with the Assault class being reworked to emphasize team play and distinctly differ from Support, and the Recon class introducing a new Spec Ops training path.
Players will have options to choose between "closed" and "open" weapon modes, catering to different playstyles and easing the learning curve between new and veteran players. Various sandbox and gameplay tuning efforts continue via Battlefield Labs sessions after the beta, indicating ongoing refinements up to launch.
The official release date for Battlefield 6 is October 10, 2025, and these changes reflect direct responses to player feedback from the Open Beta to improve balance, control, tactical depth, and overall gameplay feel. The multiplayer is reported to be polished and performant already.
The open beta will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the EA App. Players may experience a crash on the splash screen, which can be resolved by repairing the game or disabling Force randomization for images (Mandatory ASLR) globally or adding an exception for bf6event.exe.
It's important to note that a free-to-play Battlefield 6 battle royale mode is not confirmed for the upcoming beta or a specific launch date. DICE has published a list of known issues affecting players during the first weekend, including bugs related to soldier functionality, weapons and gadgets, UI/UX, maps & modes, settings & functionality, client, and crash awareness. New rewards for Weekend 2 include the War Machine Vehicle Skin, Striking Distance Weapon Package, and Bat Company Dog Tag.
Entertainment is abuzz with anticipation for Battlefield 6, scheduled for release on October 10, 2025, as the open beta, starting from September 9, provides a sneak peek at the modern-day setting, including new maps like "Empire State" and modes such as Rush and Deathmatch, set to debut in Open Beta Week 2 (August 14th to August 18th). Players can expect refined weapons, combat balance, movement mechanics, maps, objectives, game modes, and class systems based on feedback from the first open beta weekend.
