Streets of Dortmund: A Tragic Turn of Events

As the city of Dortmund hums with life, Rosa Herzog embarks on a mission to the women's shelter, dwelling on the Haller case that remains unresolved. However, another case takes the center stage when a grim discovery is made upon entering the residence of Little Zoe (Tesla Tekin). Her mother, Meike Gebken (Nadja Becker), is discovered dead, her demise a result of smoke inhalation from a room fire. The ensuing investigation, led by Chief Commissioner Peter Faber (Jörg Hartmann) and Commissioner Rosa Herzog (Stefanie Reinsperger), takes a deeply emotional toll on both. Zoe's father, Jens Hielscher (Sebastian Zimmler), a man with a violent past, is a suspect of interest, having previously fled to the women's shelter to escape from his wife. Fanny, Meike's best friend, finds herself in a state of disarray due to substance abuse, adding another layer of complexity to the case. The whereabouts of Finn (Caspar Hoffmann), Zoe's older brother, remain a mystery.

A Shifting Tide at the Station

As the case unfolds, the dynamics amongst the Dolphin Squad members seem to shift subtly. Chief Ira Klasnic (Alessija Lause) remains steadfast in her pursuit for justice, while Faber and Herzog grapple with their shifting emotions and mounting personal burdens. The pressures of the case and their individual circumstances threaten to break the resilience of Herzog, but the ever-present support of colleague Otto Pösken (Malick Bauer) offers a beacon of hope.

Echoes of the Past: Men and Misogyny

Jens Hielscher, the antagonist of the story, embodies the dark reality of misogyny. Author Markus Busch and director Nana Neul masterfully portray the women's shelter as a sanctuary for women who have endured abuse at the hands of their partners. The shelter serves as a haven for survivors, united in their shared experiences and the common enemy lurking in their past. As the narrative unfolds, we are reminded that misogyny continues to be a pervasive issue, affecting lives across the globe.

Nobody's Perfect: A Few Flaws

The investigation is marked by a few minor flaws – the narrative, though compelling, becomes somewhat overcrowded towards the end, with various plotlines vying for attention. Nevertheless, it's a commendable effort, with the tension surrounding the Haller case and Daniel Kossik (Stefan Konarske) from the LKA continuing to heat up. Herzog's struggles both in her role as an undercover detective and in her personal life offer additional intrigue.

A Standout Moment: Faber's Gentle Touch

Faber maintains a high "wow factor" by demonstrating his empathetic side throughout the investigation. His gentler approach towards the children involved in the case proves to be a refreshing departure from the stereotypical tough-guy persona often associated with police officers. At times, a simple beer from a suspect's fridge serves as his comfort, blurring the lines between detective and confidant.

Final Verdict: Compelling Tales Amidst Baggage

7.5 out of 10 points - an engaging and thought-provoking watch that deftly weaves elements of empathy, suspense, and social commentary.
