Pitcher Report | June 3rd
Yak City
First, I hope the statistics are serving you as well as they've served me. Let's delve into today's standout matchup, Chase Dollander for the Colorado Rockies. Dollander will take the mound and his performance this year has left much to be desired. He sports an enormous 6.82 ERA, allowing a whopping 2.4 HR/9 and 8.8 hits/9.
Next up is Bowden Francis for the Toronto Blue Jays. With a 5.37 ERA and an opponent batting average of .271, he's had a tough go of it. The 2.5 HR/9 he's allowed is the worst among all Blue Jays pitchers, and tonight he squares off against the potent Philadelphia Phillies lineup.
Bowden has only faced the Phillies once in his career, relinquishing 6 hits, 3 ER, and 2 HR. He's allowed Schwarber and Harper to knock both of those out of the park, and tonight at the Rogers Centre, it seems another prime opportunity to shy away from Bowden.
Weather Man, Weather Man
Today's weather forecast is spotless. It starts in Cincinnati, where winds are blowing and low air pressure may help the ball travel a little further. The pitching matchup between Peralta and Greene is intriguing, but both teams boast strong hitters taking advantage of fine hitting conditions today.
Moving on to Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. Strong winds blowing towards left field coupled with the smallest outfield in the major leagues has my full attention. Carpenter smacked 3 HR yesterday and crazy as it sounds, I'm thinking another big night could be on the horizon.
Bowden Francis for the Blue Jays has struggled this year and today with winds blowing out towards right field at the Rogers Centre, it doesn't seem to be getting any easier. Francis has a 6.43 ERA at home this season and has surrendered 11 of his 15 HR in Toronto.
Lastly, as it pertains to the weather; the Yankees make their way back to the Bronx and the climate couldn't be any finer. The Guardians are in town and Tanner Bibbee has stumbled on the road this year. He sports an unsightly 5.13 ERA away from Cleveland this season, coughing up 9 of his 12 HR on the road.
Yaks or lead me to the gallows.
Our Best Bets on the Diamond for Tuesday, June 3rd.
Kerry Carpenter o1.5 Total Bases (+105 via BetOnline)
Berry Carpenter, an appropriate nickname for the 4th-year outfielder. Carpenter is on pace for his best season yet, with a batting average of .276, 13 HR, 27 RBI, and 35 runs scored through 56 games. He's enjoying a career year, and the Detroit Tigers appear to be one of the top teams in baseball.
Yes, that wasn't a typo. The Detroit Tigers are 40-21 and the #1 team in the AL West. His 13 HR this year rank 2nd among Tigers players and he's tied for 1st in runs scored. Last night Carpenter smacked 3 HR in a single game and looked unstoppable at Guaranteed Rate Field.
We're going right back to him today, despite a few hurdles. Shane Smith has had a remarkable rookie season for the White Sox, recording a 2.68 ERA and surrendering just 4 HR thus far. Tonight he faces the red-hot lineup of the Detroit Tigers and does so in favorable hitting conditions.
Carpenter is batting .292 against righties this year, with an impressive 11 of his 13 HR coming against right-handed pitchers. In 13 career games at Guaranteed Rate Field, Carpenter is batting .367 with 4 HR and 7 extra-base hits.
Bonus: Kerry Carpenter Home Run (+320)
Francisco Lindor o1.5 Total Bases (+106 via BetOnline)
Francisco Lindor is on a tear. He leads the Mets in hits, runs scored, HR, and ranks 2nd in RBI. Lindor's batting .285 this year and his 14 HR are a testament to his recent form. The Mets are currently 36-22, the frontrunners in the NL East and coming off a Game 1 win over the Dodgers.
Lindor notched one over the fence last night and tonight with favorable weather conditions, a repeat performance shouldn't surprise you.
Bonus: Francisco Lindor Home Run (+390)

In today's Major League Baseball action, Kerry Carpenter of the Detroit Tigers is a strong bet to record over 1.5 total bases (+105 via BetOnline), capitalizing on his red-hot form and the favorable conditions at Guaranteed Rate Field. Meanwhile, Francisco Lindor of the Mets is another player to watch, as he tends to excel and could potentially hit a home run (+390) in the NL East matchup with the Dodgers.
