The University of New Mexico Lobos basketball team is gearing up for an exciting new season, with the team ranked high on several prestigious lists. According to college hoops journalist Ryan Hammer, the Lobos led the non-power conference list, securing the No. 1 spot. Boise State and San Diego State followed closely, with Boise State/Extra Mile Arena at No. 5 and San Diego State/Viejas Arena at No. 6 on the list.

As the new season approaches, a slate of highly anticipated games has been announced. The "missed" games this season include matches such as Air Force vs. Boise State at Utah State, Boise State vs. Fresno State at Air Force, and Colorado State vs. Grand Canyon at Nevada, among others.

With such a promising lineup, it comes as no surprise that season ticket renewals for Lobo basketball have been pouring in. Over 7,000 season ticket renewals have been received, seven weeks before the season opener, demonstrating the strong following the team has in Albuquerque.

For those eager to secure their seats, new season tickets can be purchased at golobos.com/tickets and start at $199.

First-year coach Eric Olen is content to share the spotlight with the successful UNM football team, led by new coach Jason Eck, who is generating unusual optimism and excitement. Olen, however, may not match the social media presence of his predecessor, joking that he might be more of a "silent film type actor" compared to the previous coach.

The Mountain West league will not release the official, final league schedule until television partners pick their games for the season. However, more than half the Mountain West schools have chosen to make their tentative schedules public.

The Pit, UNM's home court, ranks 9th in the list of the most difficult home courts in NCAA Division I basketball over the past three seasons. Despite this impressive ranking, the Pit was among the five "honorable mentions" but not in the Top 10 of Ryan Hammer's non-power conference list.

Grand Canyon, a first-year Mountain West member, is also one of the five "honorable mention" teams, adding another layer of excitement to the upcoming season. As the teams prepare for the new season, the anticipation is palpable, with fans eagerly awaiting the official schedule release.
