The Kentucky All "A" Classic state basketball tournaments will be making a return to a new venue in 2026, as the Owensboro SportsCenter has been chosen as the host. This decision comes after Eastern Kentucky University was unable to host due to conflicts with its men's and women's basketball schedules.

The Owensboro SportsCenter, known for its top-notch facilities, emerged as the best choice among several contenders. Pikeville made overtures to host, but its location at the other end of the state might have been a disadvantage. The five-day tournaments will be played from January 21 to 25, 2026.

Gary Munsie, chairman of the All "A" Classic organizing committee, has also announced that he plans to sign a one-year contract with the Owensboro SportsCenter. This move is expected to ensure a smooth and successful event.

In related news, the city of Bamberg has agreed to host the tournaments if negotiations with Eastern Kentucky University do not proceed satisfactorily. However, the focus remains on making the Owensboro SportsCenter event a success.

Meanwhile, in high school baseball, Brossart has made a strong start to the season. The team won the 10th Region All "A" Classic baseball tournament, marking their first victory in this tournament since 2019. The winning pitcher in the championship game was senior Alex Noe.

In other sports news, Lexi Held, a graduate of Cooper, has signed a training camp contract with the Phoenix Mercury, a WNBA team. Held is currently playing on a women's pro team in Hungary.

In the recent baseball game against Augusta, Keegan Gulley, senior catcher for Brossart, hit two home runs in the win. This has boosted the team's morale and their record now stands at 8-3 after winning the tournament.

As we gear up for the Kentucky All "A" Classic state basketball tournaments in 2026, it's clear that there's a lot of excitement building around the event. Stay tuned for more updates!
