Basketball prodigy from Neustadt, aged 16, signs with Brose Bamberg: Kay Bruhnke inks deal
Neustadt an der Waldnaab: Kay Bruhnke Joins Champions Bamberg
Kay Bruhnke, the prodigious basketball talent from Neustadt an der Waldnaab, has found his home with champions Brose Bamberg. His phenomenal skills have been spoken of widely among various top clubs, but it was Bamberg that secured the deal. Excited about his future at the top club, Bruhnke (16) shared, "It's an absolute honor to play for Brose – Bamberg has become a second home to me."
A man of many talents, Bruhnke stands at 1.98 meters tall and cuts a smooth figure as a shooting guard. Having immersed himself within the ranks of all youth teams, from Neustadt's U14 Bayernliga to the senior team, Bruhnke took massive strides forward, nabbing his spot with the Brose team after appearing in the Junior and Youth Bundesliga.
With Brose's farm team Baunach Young Pikes, Bruhnke made his esteemed debut, even sharing a brief experience with our local newspaper at the time. As a 16-year-old player, he was the youngest to have trained exclusively with ProA team at the time. Since then, he's carved out a regular role for himself, averaging approximately 14 minutes per game in his maiden regular second division season.
Rolf Beyer, Brose Bamberg's managing director, expressed delight at Kay Bruhnke's progress over the past two years in Bamberg. "We are thrilled that he trusts our program and wish him continued success in his basketball career," he stated.
