Germany Wins First Test Match in EuroBasket 2025 Preparation

In a thrilling test match, Germany's basketball team emerged victorious against hosts Slovenia with a score of 103-89. The win marks the first of three warm-up games for the EuroBasket 2025, as the team builds on their impressive third-place finish in EuroBasket 2022.

Key players shone in the match, with Franz Wagner and David Kramer leading the German scorers with 18 points each. Wagner's performance was noteworthy, despite picking up five fouls early in the game and having to sit out for a portion of the third quarter.

Dennis Schröder, the team's captain, was missed in the match due to personal reasons but is expected to return for the second duel with Slovenia. In his absence, Justus Hollatz stepped up as a point guard candidate, contributing 10 points and 5 rebounds to the team's total.

The team's chemistry, under the guidance of coach Aleks Mumbru, was evident as they maintained a lead throughout the first half, extending it to a ten-point advantage at halftime (53:48). Despite the referees' strict interpretation disrupting the flow of the game in the second half, Germany managed to extend their lead.

The match, played with unusually high tension for a test match, featured NBA superstar Luka Dončić for Slovenia, but the German team showed no signs of fatigue, having prepared in a training camp in Malaga for about a week.

The German basketball team had twelve players available for the first test, including the 19-year-old Christian Anderson, who made his international debut with a spectacular dunk.

Upcoming matches for Germany include a rematch against Serbia on August 16 in Munich, a crucial test as both teams refine their squads before the main tournament. Germany is placed in Group B for EuroBasket 2025, with their matches scheduled to be held in Tampere, Finland. The team will face Montenegro in their opening match at the EuroBasket on August 27.

Center Daniel Theis expressed confidence in Germany's ability to defend their title at the EuroBasket, as the tournament takes place from August 27 to September 14, with the top four teams from each group advancing to the knockout round in Riga, Latvia.

Sports analysis revealed that Germany's basketball team showcased their prowess in the sports of basketball, particularly during their victory in the EuroBasket 2025 test match against Slovenia. Key player Franz Wagner, despite picking up five fouls, scored 18 points, demonstrating his ability to lead the team in challenging situations.
