Basketball Players of Bayern Secure Point Guard Jokubaitis for their Team - Basketball players from Bayern are recruiting a top-tier playmaker known as Jokubaitis.
In a significant move for the Bavarian basketball team, they have signed Lithuanian national team player Rokas Jokubaitis on a three-year contract, extending until 2028. This comes after Jokubaitis was selected 34th in the 2021 NBA Draft but opted not to join the NBA.
Jokubaitis, a versatile guard and an emerging leader in European basketball, brings seven years of EuroLeague experience to the Bavarian team. He has already established himself as one of the leading point guards in the competition, having played for Zalgiris Kaunas, FC Barcelona, and most recently, Maccabi Tel Aviv.
During his time at FC Barcelona (2021-2024), Jokubaitis contributed to back-to-back EuroLeague Final Four appearances in 2022 and 2023. His best individual season was in 2021-22 when he averaged 7.1 points per game and won the EuroLeague Rising Star Award.
In the 2024-2025 season, Jokubaitis transferred to Maccabi Tel Aviv where he had his finest EuroLeague season, averaging 12.6 points, around 4.6 to 4.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.0 steal per game. His performance under coach Oded Kattash was strong, marking significant improvement and leadership on the court.
The Bavarian basketball team has also bolstered their roster with the signings of Kamar Baldwin (Baskonia Vitoria), Justinian Jessup (Ulm), and Xavier Rathan-Mayes (Real Madrid) for the backcourt. The team aims to reach the playoffs and win national titles with Jokubaitis leading the way following the departures of Nick Weiler-Babb and Carsen Edwards.
Bayern's sports director, Dragan Tarlac, has stated that Jokubaitis is one of the leading point guards in the Euroleague. Jokubaitis, in turn, has expressed his intention to take on a lot of responsibility at Bayern and believes in the project.
With Jokubaitis' addition, the Bavarian basketball team has made a strong statement ahead of the upcoming season. The team will face the German team at the upcoming EuroBasket, providing an early opportunity for Jokubaitis to make his mark.
