Basketball player Bradley Beal reaches an agreement for a buyout with the Phoenix Suns, deciding instead to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.

In a recent move, Bradley Beal has joined the Los Angeles Clippers, signing a two-year, $11 million deal with a player option for next season. The 13-year NBA veteran, who had two years remaining on a five-year, $251 million contract he originally signed with the Washington Wizards in 2022, will forfeit $13.9 million of the roughly $110 million left on his contract with the Wizards.

Beal, who averaged 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game for Phoenix, brings a wealth of experience to the Clippers. Over his career, he has played 801 games, averaging 21.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, shooting 37.6% from three-point range. However, his tenure with the Suns was marred by injuries, as he played only 106 of a possible 164 games over the past two seasons.

The Suns, who struggled last season, will stretch the salary-cap hit of the remaining money from Beal's contract over the next five years. The team, which lost in the first round of the playoffs in 2024 and missed the postseason entirely this year, traded Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets earlier this month.

Meanwhile, the Clippers, who have not made it out of the first round of the playoffs since 2021, are hoping that Beal's addition will boost their performance. After signing two-time NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard in 2019, the Clippers have won only three playoff series in the subsequent six years. The team also traded guard Norman Powell in a three-team deal and signed center Brook Lopez, who won a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021.

The Clippers' coaching staff will be eager to see how Beal performs in the upcoming season. The team fired head coach Tyronn Lue in April and is yet to announce a replacement. The new coach will have the task of integrating Beal into the team and maximising his potential.

While Beal's career statistics and injury history with the Clippers are not yet available, his performance and health with the team will become clearer once he starts playing games for them. Fans and analysts alike are eagerly awaiting the start of the new season to see how Beal fares in his new team.
