Despite a short stint with the Houston Astros, he found his magic with the New York Mets and lifted the World Series trophy in 1969.

As Art Shamsky, one of Taylor's former teammates, recalls, "Ron was the only guy on our staff with postseason experience. He brought a winning mentality, and we don't win the title without Ron Taylor."

The "unsung hero" of the Mets' roster, the Mets pitcher shone brightly on the team's road to victory in 1969, not allowing a single run in 5.2 postseason innings and recording two saves.

In the twilight of his illustrious baseball career, Dr. Taylor pursued a medical degree from the University of Toronto in 1977. His journey then led him to the Toronto Blue Jays, where he served as team physician for a remarkable 30 years.
